    It’s been a really difficult week as a black woman in the world. That coupled with the fact that I’m a black mother-to-be of a child that will also be black, the events of the past month have weighed heavy.     We’re making progress! I had my phone consultation with a midwife from Whipps Cross Hospital on Thursday and I cannot tell you how much better we feel about sticking with the NHS for the duration of our pregnancy. We had a lovely woman ring (Swee Harris is her name), bang on time, and went through everything in so much detail, she: explained that I would be getting a new file and therefore my first appointment would be at Whipps Cross Hospital to get my height, weight and to test my urine and blood, as well as pick up my file. made sure I was taking Pregnacare and told me which…

    Now I have to start this post praising the NHS staff; they have been on the front line of this pandemic in the UK. I cannot imagine where we would be without their services and dedication to the sick. They have done a phenomenal job and we, the British public should be more appreciative of the NHS, not just now, but ongoing and they deserve a lot more funding than what the Conservatives give, but that’s another story.
